Lumii Solutions, in collaboration with the Municipality of Venise-en-Québec, officially launched LumiiConnexion on June 4, a next-generation community Wi-Fi network that marks an important milestone in the municipality’s digital development.
Bringing together municipal officials, regional partners, representatives from the business community, and community members, the event showcased the first components of this digital infrastructure, which will serve as the foundation for future smart city initiatives.
Infrastructure Serving the Community
Deployed in the Lake Champlain tourism area, LumiiConnexion provides public Wi-Fi access while creating a technological platform capable of eventually supporting the integration of urban sensors, traffic analysis systems, and smart municipal equipment.
“LumiiConnexion is much more than just a Wi-Fi network. It is a digital infrastructure that will enable the municipality to better understand its territory, improve decision-making, and develop services tailored to the community’s needs,” said Pierre Lapointe, CEO of Lumii Solutions.
A Forward-Looking Partnership
The Municipality of Venise-en-Québec sees this project as a concrete opportunity to better address certain local issues, particularly those related to traffic, tourism, and municipal planning.
“This project gives us access to modern tools that will help us better understand the realities of our community and plan our initiatives more effectively,” said Mélanie Ménard, mayor of Venise-en-Québec.
A driver for tourism and the local economy
Thanks to LumiiConnexion, residents and visitors can now enjoy free Wi-Fi access in covered areas. The network will also help support the businesses, events, and tourist activities that have made Venise-en-Québec famous.
A regional innovation lab
For Lumii Solutions, this project confirms the potential of Venise-en-Québec as a testing ground for the development of digital solutions for municipalities.
“This initiative allows us to test, under real-world conditions, technologies that could eventually be deployed and marketed elsewhere in the region,” said Samuel Schmidt, chairman of the board of directors at Lumii Solutions.
